Making Alovoa more queer-friendly

In this discussion I want to collect all ideas of making Alovoa more queer-friendly to discuss an overall concept for this platform. At the moment the platform is near unusable for various minority.

So we need:

• More flexible gender options #221 and
• optional profile setting: trans / cis #230
• respect different relationship models: Settings for polyamory relationships #232
• respect different ways of (non)sexuality: Settings for Allosexuals / Asexuals #231
• let people in transition change how they describe themselves: Option to change gender #229

In this discussion I use a lot of words maybe not all know. Explaining them all would need very much posts, but you can find explanations on all of them in Wikipedia. If you still have questions after that, feel free to ask :)

First Proposal for discussion:

For this discussion it is important to hear people with different perspectives about this. My perspective on dating is white, disabled, trans, lesbian, gray-asexual and polyamorous.

We discuss about a lot of information. So I created a structured overview as a basis for the discussion. For this I used 2 categories:

• Information about the user
• Information about what the user is looking for

Changes in comparison to the current state are bold.

Conclusion

This is just a first proposal and needs discussion. Even if we find a Solution together, this will be far away from being perfect and just would be a first step. This step would need a restructuring of the profile settings to make it more clear. Maybe we need sub-settings. If we choose to support this, further steps among other things could be:

• further improving support of self-chosen terms
• improving the filters and options for searching others and being able to be found
• thinking about safety concepts for minorities on this platform
