Unable to get bot to make sound or use rss feeds

I got the bot to join the discord server and it will respond to $pod help. using $pod rss add doesn't seem to do anything. and $pod rss list always results in the message 'no feeds'. If I use $pod play url , it will join the voice channel but make no sound.
