Below are the notes from the first open meeting on Karapace:

Karapace OSPO Meeting on 18 Oct 2023
Participants: Varun Ghai - Instaclstr, Josep Prat - Aiven , Vlad Macelaru - Aiven, Filip Yonov - Aiven

Outcomes:

• Aiven OSPO office will preside over a monthly meeting to be held with all Karapace contributors:
• Agenda will always include at least 1) current Karapace roadmap, 2) Status review of issues in progress or in todo and 3)Discussion section
• Notes to be published after each meeting on Karapace GitHub in Discussions section
• Discussed and agreed that Karapace Roadmap will migrate to GitHub projects roadmap type
  • Filip Yonov is responsible for prep and migration
• Discussed and agreed that current Karapace roadmap is a good representation of the current state of the project
• Instaclstr raised visibility to Add observability #204 for adding observability features to Karapace
  • Expectation is that Instaclustr will come back with high-level proposal on design and architecture implementation to verify the contribution
  • Expectation is that Aiven will review this in short time to confirm the design or propose alternatives
• It was discussed how to fix long wait times on PR reviews
  • To be agreed what timely feedback is - for now "is best effort", in later iterations we will come back with more specific guidance.
  • Smaller chunks of PRs are preferable i.e. 3 - 4 weeks worth of dev time, no more
