This is on purpose.

I don't recall the reasoning behind this.

Using a separate branch seems to make things harder.

  • kind of complicated to handle; easy to overlook that there is a website branch too
  • harder to acknowledge contribs, archive, and maintain via standard GitHub actions
  • keeps us from using markdown which GitHub renders nicely for us and dive into html
  • when issue is open, one needs to think of which branch that's for
  • conflicting information can remain undetected between branches
