On Arch I have downgraded and locked Fprintd to version 1.90.1 until this gets updated.

You can lock it to 1.90.9

I had it locked to 1.90.9, but I feel that it worked best when paired with 1.90.1. So I downgraded to the 1.90.1 version.

Which fprintd version fixes the delay?
It got introduced as a bug.

Not sure, but 1.90.1 has no delay. It also works properly with a failed scan.

You're right
After 1.90.1 came no .2, there was a jump directly to .6
With .1 I've got a perfect experience
I never downgraded because I thought the next update would fix the problems. :D

Since Debian testing is now at fprintd-1.94.1 (up from 1.90.9 in stable), there is a new cohort of affected users.

Is downgrading fprintd the only solution to this problem? OpenSUSE Leap 15.4 appears to also be at fprintd-1.94.1 with no option of downgrading to back-level versions unless users choose to build from source.
