I was setting things up for the new version, and it still does not have a .CHR or .BIN import for NES/PCE/SMS/ZXSpectrum and more. Can we have it in the next GIT release version?

The raw character data import originally available for the NES and SMS platforms. The rest ones in development and were not released yet. That's not a problem to make it available for the all platforms.
What platforms do you need to work with raw character data ?
Right now, I am mostly focusing on NES and PCE stuff, SNES is excluded because it is not supported by this editor (yet), But who knows, Maybe a future feature request to add the SNES version of MapEd to will add similar CHR support that platform. but it is another story entirely.
I've added support for importing raw CHRs in the PCE/ZX versions. Dev build here.
The SNES version is a BIG question due to its "too many features" +HUGE palette, that doesn't fit into the current UI. The NEO-GEO looks much better. But the question of the HUGE palette is still open...
